Matt and Kere's Trip Across Montenegro
After meeting in Dubrovnik, Matt and I took the opportunity to explore my country-of-residence, Montenegro. Although we traveled in the country only for 3 1/2 days, we were able to see quite a lot.
DAY 1
Our first stop upon entering the country was Kotor, a very picturesque town with an impressively preserved old town along the stunning Kotor Bay.
Afterwards, we made our way by bus to Podgorica, where slept in my cat-infested apartment.
DAY 2
Although we woke up late, I had the peculiar notion to rent a car to see more of the country. We were able to check out Skadar Lake, a few ruins, some towns along the coast, and ended our day at a traditional restaurant near Podgorica.
Images around Skadar Lake:
An old fort on the lake:
The small town of Virpazar:
From the winding road high above the southern coast of Skadar Lake:
A grove of ancient trees near the lake. Nobody else seems to like them, but I feel like I'm in an enchanted forest here:
The ruins of an old Medieval town, with cathedral, and sheep:
Matt on the beach of Ulcinj, where we stopped for lunch and watched the locals cruise up and down, back and forth, along the 50 meter-long beachside road again and again:

DAY 3:
Our third day in Montenegro was spent exploring the seaside town of Budva, a small but bustling town that sports both an old town and a popular beachside:
Day 4:
Though we were to leave for Belgrade that day, we managed to walk out along the Moracha River to the Roman ruins outside of town. Afterwards, we stopped off for an infamous Montenegro burger!
So, all told, we manged to do a lot of sightseeing in Montenegro while Matt was here. Though Montenegro doesn't sport much of a dynamic social scene, the natural beauty and the ruins abound. Come visit so I can give you the next 3-day tour!

Hi Kere! I found your blog when I searched for information about Delice D'Ange! I lived in Chisinau during 2002-2004 and it was my favourite place! Such cute a piece of decadence in soviet Moldova!
I liked what you said about Moldova and its countryside. I feel sad that I did not have my own Maria, making mamaliga for me!
Art and beauty wise though, I found mosaic bus stops really fascinating. Did you notice any of them? They are all over the country...
